Moving from Claude to Claude Code
Step 1— Get a summary of you (in the Claude desktop app) Open the Claude desktop app, start a new chat, and paste this: Summarize everything you know about me, my business, my goals, and how I like to work into a clean, short context block. Sections: About me, Current projects, How I like to work, Definition of done. Keep it tight and factual — plain text, no emojis, no fluff. You'll get back a clean block of facts about you. Copy it. Step 2 — Hand it to Claude Code In the desktop app, open the Claude Code panel (same window) and paste this in — drop your copied block where it says: Here's a summary of me and my work: [paste your block here]. Save this as my global memory (CLAUDE.md) so you read it at the start of every session. Put this rule at the very top: "Always give me the next concrete action I can take today. Never tell me to interview people, survey, or do market research — I learn by shipping, not talking." Then show me what you saved. Hit ENTER. 🎉 That's it — Claude wrote and saved your memory for you. You never had to know where it lives. Open Claude Code tomorrow and it already knows you.
I stole this to solve the "Git" Issue when using Claude the first time.
So those of you starting to use Claude Code for the first time - you will probably get a "Git is required for local sessions." message. You did nothing wrong. Git is a free tool Claude Code uses behind the scenes to save snapshots of your work (it powers the undo button). You can do one of tow things. Literally type: "I don't know what that means. Can you walk me through what it is and how to fix it? " Or - more proactively, on Mac: open the Terminal app, type git --version, press enter. Your Mac will print a note like xcode-select: note: "No developer tools were found, requesting install -" That is not an error, it is your Mac offering to install the tools for you. A separate popup window will pop up asking to install the "command line developer tools" (- it sometimes hides behind your Terminal window, so look for it.) Click Install, wait a few minutes. (If no popup appears, type xcode-select --install and press enter to force it.) On Windows: download Git from git-scm.com and click through the installer with the default options. Then restart Claude Code and select your folder again, and git --version will show a version number.

(Re)build a website in 5 minutes!
A friend spent hours building a WordPress sales page. It was good — genuinely good, real design effort, nothing wrong with it. She just didn't know yet what was now possible. I rebuilt a version of it in Claude Cowork while she wasn't looking. Same colors, same fonts, images pulled automatically from the live site. The Calendly link worked. The signup form worked. I didn't make a single design decision — I just said "you do it" and it did. It also caught some meta image errors on her original that were pointing to an old site. She didn't know those were there. Two things worth knowing if you try this yourself: Where you save your output matters more than you'd think. Claude hands off a clean file — but if it bounces through four nested subfolders before it lands on your machine, it can arrive broken, and Claude doesn't know it broke because when it handed it off everything was fine. Save locally first, move it after. I think of it as a ball made of spun sugar — every toss is a risk. Your prompt doesn't need to be technical. Mine was essentially: make this a little more attractive, use what's already on the site, ask me what you need. It asked a few questions, then built the whole thing in about seven actions. The finished file is just HTML. To get it into WordPress, she pastes it into a code block. That's it. No developer, no theme wrangling, no build process. (You will need to upload the images into wordpress and get those image urls to add back into the HTML) The full walkthrough is on YouTube below ⬇️ To be super clear- the only reason this was so fast was that we already had a web page to base the new one on. It will take longer to create a sales page from scratch (which is what we covered in Tuesday's live classs.) What have you been putting off because it seemed too technical? Drop it below — let's figure out if Claude can just do it. Also - please follow my YouTube page!

Used Python in Claude Cowork to create this quick little video. If you are interested in the prompt, just let me know in a DM. Also, you should join Diane and me in October. It's going to be a crazy awesome long weekend! https://swayrisecreative.com/ai-base-camp/
