Getting more Senior Women in Tech
Good morning! As you know I set up this Power Network because I want to see more women in senior positions in tech. Over the several decades in my career I've started quite a few initiatives to get women into tech and help keep them there. This is the first initiative I've started with the aim of fast tracking women already in tech into as senior positions as possible. As I'm moving towards, probably, the last few years of working full time, I really want to ensure that I help as many women as possible get into senior positions, positions of power, to ensure that we get the tech products and services that we deserve, but also to make sure that we have as many women as possible in senior decision making roles. I want to ensure a continuing and *growing* flow of women at the top. You are all the pioneers in this initiative, thank you all so much for that ❤️ To have the impact that is needed we need to grow this network, to bring in more members. We need more women joining who have the potential to be senior leaders, who will value what we do here and will support other women to achieve. We don't want women who don't support other women, we want talented, friendly and supportive women who will work together to help everyone in the Power Network, and the tech industry to rise. I'll be posting on LinkedIn and other social media platforms to find those women and bring them into our network. The more that you share and post yourselves the bigger the impact that will have. Please help me to grow this network so that hundreds of us can rise together. As a group we can make a massive difference to the landscape and the more supportive, ambitious women we have in here the better and faster that will happen. You can help by commenting on and sharing my posts, by tagging or messaging women that are ambitious, supportive and friendly, and by posting yourself. ** Comments on the post make the biggest difference to how many people see it Together we really can make a difference 💥

Opportunity to speak!
Hi all I'm going to be chairing a panel on a teams call with a charity I work with called Zonta which works for women and girls rights (https://www.linkedin.com/in/zonta-eclub-uk-a01470216/). Very informal and not huge amounts of people. We usually have a speaker for our monthly meetings - On the 23rd June they want me to chair a panel of 3 to talk about women in tech - the past, the present and the future... So anyone in this group could talk about that! I think if we can focus on now and future that would be great...Let me know if you are interested: 23rd June, 7pm ish but will firm up times... Thanks!!
AI, Numeracy and Social Mobility - Launch event at House of Commons
Good morning lovely ladies, A few months ago I was speaking with KPMG, one of our corporate partners, about this network and the exceptional range of skills and interests across it. They’ve been supporting a research project on AI, numeracy and social mobility, and I’m attending the launch on 14 July. They reached out on Friday to say they’d love to invite women from this network to join too - my contact had taken a look at WiTPN on LinkedIn and was very impressed. I’ve included details of the event below. Social mobility is a real passion of mine, and AI has the potential to do a huge amount of good, but also to widen gaps if we’re not thoughtful about how it’s used and the key skills required to access it. This research focuses on the role numeracy plays in that, which I think will make for a really interesting discussion. If you’d like to attend, please let me know and I can help arrange tickets. It would also be lovely to meet some of you in person. 🌟 Event details: We are very pleased to invite you to the launch of AI, Numeracy and Social Mobility – a new research report from Policy Connect and businesses of the National Numeracy Leadership Council. KPMG has worked closely with National Numeracy since 2018, when they co-founded National Numeracy Day to help people build confidence with numbers. Around half of the UK’s working-age population (approximately 17–20 million adults) have numeracy skills at or below the level expected of a primary school leaver. Date: Tuesday 14 July 2026Time: 08:00 – 10:30 (arrival from 8:00 for security clearance; 8:30 registration and breakfast; panel discussion 9:00–10:00, followed by networking) Location: Churchill Room, House of Commons Join Lord Evans of Rainow and an esteemed panel to discuss the report’s findings and policy recommendations. The research highlights that only 25% of UK adults believe numeracy skills are needed to use AI tools, compared to 42% who believe literacy is required. However, strong numeracy remains fundamental to engaging with AI confidently and critically.
Nomination?
Quick thought while taking a break from studying! 😊 This landed in my inbox and made me wonder whether we should consider nominating the network for an award as part of our wider efforts to grow the community and raise our profile. https://www.womentech.net/women-in-tech-awards/categories It feels like a great opportunity to showcase the impact of the network, celebrate what we have achieved , and potentially attract even more members. I’d be more than happy to help put together a nomination, although I think a collaborative submission with contributions from lots of members would be especially strong. Also, if anyone is interested in putting themselves forward for an individual nomination, please do shout! There are so many incredible people in this community, and I’d love to celebrate you all too. What do people think? Just an idea!
