Quick thought while taking a break from studying! 😊 This landed in my inbox and made me wonder whether we should consider nominating the network for an award as part of our wider efforts to grow the community and raise our profile. https://www.womentech.net/women-in-tech-awards/categories It feels like a great opportunity to showcase the impact of the network, celebrate what we have achieved , and potentially attract even more members. I’d be more than happy to help put together a nomination, although I think a collaborative submission with contributions from lots of members would be especially strong. Also, if anyone is interested in putting themselves forward for an individual nomination, please do shout! There are so many incredible people in this community, and I’d love to celebrate you all too. What do people think? Just an idea!

London update because I feel like I’ve barely stopped moving since I got here 😂🥵…. Firstly HOW are you all coping in this heat because I feel like I’m fighting for survival 😭 I thought Liverpool was bad but London heat is something else entirely…… add in the fact my stomach is still being an absolute menace and I’ve basically spent 2 days feeling sick, overheating and surviving off sparkling water 🤮…… I feel like I’ve loads about 2 stone in pure sweat 😩🤮🥵 But aside from melting…… It’s been SUCH a good couple of days.….. Yesterday I got took out for lunch, spent a few hours in the office, then back out again in the evening for more social stuff so it’s been full on from the second I arrived. The biggest news though…… They’ve asked me to start doing more work with the AI team AND offered me a big pay increase to take the lead on automating a lot of the really time consuming tasks across the company rather than just the community posts I mentioned on the catch up 👀✨💃🏼❤️ Safe to say I’m VERY excited….. it still feels a bit surreal because not that long ago I was sat wondering if I’d ever break into this industry after rejection after rejection…… now I’m a month (1 month today!!!) into a role and they’re already seeing more potential in me than I even expected myself ✨❤️🙏 Today has been workshop day and at one point the CEO completely put me on the spot and asked…. “you’ve been here a month now, what do you think we could improve on?” My answer was immediate…… bringing more women in.……. Because it’s still SUCH a male dominated space…. Both workshops I’ve done I have been the only female in the room(there are other women in the company but not in tech roles) & although I’m more than capable of holding my own in a room full of men……. I would love not to be the only woman, and being part of this network has shown me just how many ridiculously talented women are out there doing incredible things in tech every single day.…. The talent is there…..The skills are there…… The experience is there…. We just need more opportunities, visibility and pathways into these space, so my attention will now be focused on attracting women & automating the bits that everyone hates doing…. Not quite the job I applied for but that’s a good thing, I was getting bored by midday every day so this should keep me occupied for a while!!!!!

And wow… straight in at the deep end doesn’t even cover it 🤣🙈 Back-to-back calls all day, inductions, introductions, “this is what we do”, “this is how this works”, “you’ll meet them next week”… my brain has been on fire since about 11am 🤣 You know when you’re nodding along like “yep got it 👍🏼”…absolutely haven’t got it & I'm just glad the ai assistant sent me notes so I can go back over it all 🙈 Then just to keep me really on my toes… the guy I’m working with casually turns up at my house to take a headshot 😭…. No warning….. No “hey maybe brush your hair”….. Nothing.I’m stood there with my hair looking like a burst mattress thinking cool cool cool, love that for me…. I’ll share the pics when I get them 🤣🙈 But… it’s been a good day…. A LOT to take in, and I can already tell it’s going to take me a few days (minimum) to properly find my feet… but the people are lovely, the energy feels good, and I’ve got that little feeling like yep… this could be my place ✨❤️💃🏼 Oh and… I’ve already got a 3-day London trip booked…. I thought it was 2 but turns out it’s 3 👀 Office day, go karting, drinks, sleep, home.I mean… I’ll take that 🤣❤️💃🏼 Think I’m going to like it here you know…. How’s everyone else’s week started?
