I love getting the chance to go to a sporting event and most of the time the most memorable experience is an incredible play in the game or the moments I share with the people around me.
Sponsors still think that a logo on a jersey or a banner around the pitch makes consumers consider their brand or service above others. Yes, sometimes.... It can happen but, what makes sponsors stand out is the feeling they create for fans that becomes engrained in their memories.
That feeling is what informs the moment of purchase repeatedly.
If you use sponsorship to drive awareness, I believe you're not leveraging it correctly.
As a consumer I can be aware of your brand and equally have no idea what it does.
