Schedule decompression If you can make it to your important meetings then you can make rest a priority. You just have to learn to equally value rest a much as you value productivity and trust me it makes you more productive. Second solution? Deliberate isolation This looks like reinforcing boundaries when you separate from work. Going on a walk? Leave your phone in the car. Sitting on your computer on off hours? Turn your email notifications off. Sitting around the table with your kids, let go of any work related thoughts and enjoy the meal for an hour. Creating distance from work will help make rest easier Problem #2 their relationships suffer at the cost of their success Solution 1 show up with a different identity with your partner than the one you bring to your job If you are too used to solving problems, analyzing metrics and quantifying patterns how do you think your partner would respond to that behavior at home? Recognize there’s a time and place for certain identities and it’s wise to show up in a certain way within partnerships, this too is a skill! Solution 2 leave work at work A lot of the issues from work that we bring into relationship’s comes from bringing the stress home. Yes it may have been a stressful day but that’s no reason to allow that stress to contaminate your safe and very different home space. Spend 2 minutes in your car before entering your home to breath deeply and let the day go and know that you can leave your problems behind for a few hours each night and the world will not end.
