TOPIC: Faithful with the Hours TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Ephesians 5:15–17; Colossians 3:17, 23–24 — ( NIV and KJV ) TODAY’S WORD The discipline of time is not about turning every minute into a task. It is about living deliberately rather than drifting through the day without noticing what matters. Scripture calls us to walk wisely and make good use of our time—not because busyness makes us holy, but because our lives and opportunities are gifts. A wise day has room for work, worship, responsibility, rest, and the people God has placed near us. If everything is urgent, nothing receives our full attention. Ask yourself what God has entrusted to you today, and what can wait. Faithfulness may mean completing an important task; it may also mean stopping to listen to someone who needs your care. Discipline does not mean refusing rest. Even Jesus withdrew from crowds. Rest acknowledges that you are a human being, not the source of the world’s strength. Use your hours with purpose, and receive rest without guilt. PRAYER FOR TODAY God, help me use this day wisely. Show me what deserves my attention, what I should release, and when I need to rest. May my work and my relationships honor You. Amen. PROPHETIC DECLARATION May God give me wisdom to steward my time with purpose, kindness, and healthy rest. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2026 TOPIC: A small beginning in a larger story TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Ruth 4:13–22 — NIV TODAY’S WORD The book ends with birth, celebration, and a family line leading to David. The story that began with famine and bereavement ends with a child held in Naomi’s arms and a future extending beyond what she could see at the beginning. Naomi’s grief was real; the ending does not erase it. But grief was not permitted to have the final word over the whole story. Ruth’s faithful love, Boaz’s responsible action, and the community’s care become part of a larger unfolding history. What looked small—a gleaner in a field, a meal shared, a difficult decision made properly—was woven into a story of lasting consequence. The conclusion invites patience: you may not know how far the good you do today will travel. This is not a promise that every loss will be restored in the same way, or on our preferred schedule. It is an invitation to trust that God can bring purpose and hope through ordinary faithfulness, even when the full design is still hidden. PRAYER FOR TODAY Lord, thank You for being at work beyond what I can see. Heal what remains tender in me, help me celebrate signs of goodness, and make me faithful in small things.
