Threading black pipe
How to thread black pipe with an automatic threader
- Get measurement of piece you need. Lets say face to face of a 90 is 10 inches. ( I’ll cut ~11 inches for the threads )
- Cut piece with a bandsaw or with a handheld pipe cutter
- Insert piece into a pipe vise and secure.
- Spray cutting oil onto end of pipe for lubrication
- Insert end of threader
- put hand on threader for back pressure
- pull the trigger so the wheel is spinning clockwise
- Continually spray cutting oil onto the pipe through the die (the die is the piece that comes out and can determinate the pipe size. 1/2 pipe so a 1/2 pipe die.)
- Thread in ~3/4 of an inch onto the pipe and remove the threader.
- Flip pipe and do again to other side
