Day in the life of a HVAC service tech?
Each day starts either at the job you couldn’t finish the previous day, or with your office dispatching you to a call. The important thing is you will always be working. You start at 7 AM and finish your first call by 9 AM. You needed to replace capacitor and clean the coil Call the office and they send you onto your next call which turns out to be a bad compressor. You diagnose this at 10:30 AM, you tell the building owner and they want it replaced. You call in to order the compressor with the numbers you got from the tag. You reclaim the refrigerant, pick up the compressor and go back in the morning to change it.
Do techs control their day — or does dispatch?
Just joined — been around the home services space for a bit but trying to learn more about what the day-to-day actually looks like for techs in the field. Simple question: how many jobs are you realistically running in a day?
