Winter storm Across the USA

so does anyone else here in the states feel they are making a big production of the winter storm? I mean i feel like they are up to something. things just feel really off, because here in texas we have had much worse. is it a distraction or do you think big gov is doing a test run on something to test our response? the weather is just too weird it was like spring a week ago and some of my pear trees still have not lost their leaves.
