Core Values
Just watched welcome video. My core values are to be a calm parent/grandparent. To not lose my cool and never harm my child emotionally or physically. To raise a happy child who is as self-sufficient as she can possibly be. My gaps are that I am very frustrated and I need to get over my anger about this situation. This is not the life I was expecting and that I wanted at this age.I want to love her more than I love myself.
Books/resources question
Step 1 for me has been working on my nervous system regulation but my husband and I also really need strategies for parenting ODD style behaviors. There is a super expensive parenting coaching option called Parent Management Training that I looked into a few months ago but at that point we were going to try other things on our own. However, we just haven't had time to dig into figuring out strategies together besides starting with a few basics of our goals/simple rules for the house. I need a way to enforce consequences for behaviors in a way that makes sense. I don't know what the consequences should be yet and that's part of the issue. And I can't enforce anything that relates to where she is physically (I can't force her to stay in the house necessarily either when she knows our street is safe to play in and if she really wanted to leave, she could). Any ideas for books and also whether its worth the money for the PMT coaching?
