🪜 WELCOME TO DAY 1
Welcome to LADDER: From Grade 3/4 to Grade 5.
Over the next week, we're going to work on one thing: building stronger GCSE English answers.
Whether you’re starting at nouns and adjectives or you’re experienced in analysing text, I want to hear from YOU. 🫵🏼
You don't need to be brilliant at English already.
You don't need to know loads of fancy vocabulary.
And you definitely don't need to write pages and pages.
What you DO need is to understand what makes an answer stronger.
That's what we're going to learn.
🪜 One rung at a time.
The challenge: we're going to find your starting point.
Don't worry about getting it "right".
I actually want to see what you can do before I’ve started teaching you the LADDER method.
Let's see where you are starting from. 👇
You don't need to suddenly become amazing at English.
You need to know what your next step is.
That's what we're going to work on this week.
☝🏽 Your first task:
Read the mini extract below and then answer the question below it.
🪜 Day 1 Mini Extract
The boy stood at the doorway, staring into the darkness. His hands trembled as he reached for the handle. A cold shiver ran down his back. He wanted to run, but his feet remained frozen to the floor. Every tiny sound made him jump.
Question
How does the writer use language to present the character as frightened?
Don't worry about getting it perfect.
I actually WANT to see your starting point.
Post your answer below. 👇
Tomorrow, we're going to find out exactly what is stopping it from moving up the LADDER. ⬆️
