One pattern that comes up in sessions is clients reporting that they are resting, but still feel exhausted.
In many cases, the issue isn’t lack of rest — it’s that the nervous system remains in a state of activation.
When the system is still perceiving stress or threat, the body doesn’t fully shift into a restorative state. As a result, time off doesn’t translate into recovery.
This can be an important distinction when working with clients who feel frustrated that “nothing is helping.”
