It's just before 6am and I'm outside on my own, listening to the birds and watching the sun come up over the field. I'm barefoot. The grass is soaking wet with dew and the ground is cold .. icy cold! and there's a viewpoint on the far side of the field that I know is better than where I'm standing. It's about 3 or 4 minutes of walking. 3 or 4 minutes of icy feet and every part of me saying turn round, go back to the warm, stay in the comfy. And I thought, this is it, isn't it. This is the whole thing. Sometimes you have to walk through the discomfort. Not around it. Through it. Because the thing you want is on the other side and there's no way to it that doesn't involve cold feet! So I kept walking. And I'm here now, on the far side, and my feet are still freezing but they're starting to warm as I stand still with them on the earth. I can feel the heat rising from underneath me. I'm getting used to the cold. And the view from here is exquisite. Worth every second of it. But.. and this important.. it's NOT about forcing. It's about listening. There's a difference between pushing against your body's wisdom and eeking yourself just past the edge of your comfort zone, right at the brink of your window of tolerance. You know the difference. Your body knows the difference. There were some very edgy practices on the retreat yesterday. Things I could've said no to, and we always have that choice, a yes or a no, honoured either way. I chose yes. And the gold was there. So today, ask yourself .. where's your cold field? What's the 3 or 4 minutes of discomfort standing between you and the view? And is your body saying no, or is it just saying I'd rather not? Only you know. Carla x Today's Tantric Tip: ✨ Soften your jaw. The jaw and the pelvis are connected through the fascia, and when one holds tension the other holds it too. Check your jaw now. Unclench it, let the tongue rest, let the lips part slightly. Do it again at the traffic lights and again when you're waiting in a queue. As the jaw lets go, you'll begin to feel more in the hips and the pelvis. That's life force finding its way back down into the body. x
