Day 1: Launching My Telehealth Clinic - Lessons Learned
Today was my official launch date of JetSet Health. My mom was my first patient so I could get a hang of my EMR and how everything works. I highly recommend doing a trial run with a friend or family member so you can see how everything flows on their end (and yours too!) before you start seeing real patients. I obviously haven't been in business that long, but I've been preparing to launch for about 8 weeks since I knew my locums contract ended this week. I have experience in business (nursing education, lead generation - SaaS) outside of being a nurse practitioner, so have applied some of my general business knowledge to launching my telehealth clinic. Don't put off starting your clinic, it will take time to get things going in the beginning. Here's a rundown of what I've done in the last couple months: - Got an additional NP license in a FPA state, since my current state is restricted. - Chose my specialty and what I wanted (and don't want) to do - Landed on a business name and corresponding domain for my website - Created my email account and signature - Had a simple logo created on Fiverr - Created a simple WP website (1 page) and blog - Set up autoblogging systems so my blog can start bringing in SEO traffic in 3-6 months (I have 63 published as of today) - Created local landing pages for more SEO traffic focusing on specific keywords and the local service area I'm licensed in (have 1000 pages published) - Set up my Google Analytics and Google Search Console to track SEO efforts - Trialed multiple EMR systems before landing on the one I decided to go with (based on price as a newbie, features, and ease of use) - Priced out liability insurance and purchased a policy - Created intake and charting forms for my EMR - Read Chris' book to solidify my telehealth practice model - Created a list of businesses (with contact information) I could contact as referral partners (your niche is key here and makes things 10 times easier) - Created flyers for the above business types if they'd like to refer pts to me - Created a FB and Google My Business page - Loaded up posts in my social media scheduler starting today and through the month of January - Created a "burner" email address for my manual outreach
