John 10:10 ...I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
If we look a little deeper at the Greek and the definitions of the words used, there are some beautiful, deeper, truths than what we read at face value.
"Life"
- Zoe - Literal and figurative life
- Psuche (Psoo-khay): Heart or heartily, in our lives, mind/soul...an interesting addition to the translation is "Us + you"
- This immediately brought to mind the reality that Jesus came to do life WITH us, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in covenant relationship.
"More abundantly"
- Perissos (Per-is-sos')
- Superabundant in quantity
- Superior in quality
- Excessive and beyond measure
- Superfluous; exceeding what is sufficient and more than is required
He came to gave us this life Spiritually, physically, emotionally. Abundant life in thought, feelings, heart, and body.
The key is for us to renew our minds so that we truly believe this in our core. Have an awesome week!
