Let's Have that Coffee/Tea Chat
Hi everyone, I wanted to pop in and say I’m sorry I’ve been a bit quiet for a while. I haven’t been entirely well and needed to take some time off. That pause gave me space to reflect, reprocess, rejuvenate, and regroup in ways I didn’t know I needed at the time. I’m back now, with a bit more clarity and a new focus. I’m hoping to start hosting short, informal live webinars each week. They won’t be polished or overly structured, more like thoughtful ramblings and reflections on things that have been sitting with me, and hopefully with you too. This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about other ways of knowing, particularly Indigenous practices and wisdom that we too often overlook in social work and mental health spaces. I keep coming back to the DSM-5 and how much of our social, cultural, relational, and historical lives get left out of diagnosis. I’ve been wondering how Indigenous ways of knowing could help us think about mental health in more holistic, grounded, and humane ways. I’d really love to hear your thoughts on this. And honestly… it feels long overdue, let’s have that coffee meet and chat. We can talk about this, or anything else that’s been on your mind. No agenda, no pressure. Just conversation and connection. More details coming soon. I’m really looking forward to being back in this space with you.
