Anyone else feeling like this lately?
Recently, I’m not sure if it’s because it’s winter, it’s getting dark so early or just because I’m being lazy 😂 but I have been falling into some bad habits…
What I love about doing inner work and taking time to understand myself daily is that I start to notice patterns sooner, especially when things feel a little off.
It gives me the chance to readjust my life and get myself back on track.
And lately, I’ve noticed that I’ve been feeling stressed from working a lot more and putting more pressure on myself, leading to eating way more crappy food, scrolling more, and binge watching shows in the evenings.
What I’ve actually realised is that when my workload goes up, my stress usually does too. And instead of releasing that stress in a healthy way, I’ve been turning to food for comfort and chasing quick dopamine.
The discomfort from work stress has made me look for more comfort in my life, and over time that’s turned into bad habits and worse days.
Dopamine without effort is usually the kind that slowly makes your life worse, not better.
So now, I’m trying something different. When I notice stress coming in to my day, I focus on chasing real dopamine instead.
I’ll go for a quick walk, write in my journal, do a short workout or even just take a quick pause to understand that I’m feeling that triggered stress so that I’m conscious of how I’m reacting to it.
And this has helped me regain control of my habits.
Dopamine resets are vital to your long term growth so if you can relate then do your best to earn that real dopamine today, whether that’s from a workout, a home cooked meal, getting sunlight or learning something new today!
