๐ŸŒŸ Ethical Dilemma in Reiki: Seeking Permission from the Higher Self? ๐ŸŒŸ
In Reiki practice, we are taught to always respect free will and obtain explicit consent before offering healing. But what happens when someone is unconscious, resistant, or unaware of Reikiโ€™s benefits?
Some Reiki traditions believe that in such cases, we can ask the recipientโ€™s higher self for permission to send healing energy. This approach is often found in Angelic Reiki, Shamanic Reiki, and Esoteric traditions, where the belief is that the higher self always knows what is best for the individual.
However, traditional Usui Reiki and professional organizations (such as IARP, UK Reiki Federation) emphasize that healing should only be given with direct physical consent, arguing that:
๐Ÿ”น Respect for free will is a fundamental principle.
๐Ÿ”น The practitionerโ€™s perception of the higher self may not always be accurate.
๐Ÿ”น Reiki should never be imposed, even with good intentions.
โœจ What do you think? Should Reiki practitioners seek approval from the higher self when physical consent isnโ€™t possible? Or should we always honor the personโ€™s conscious decision?
