What we place against our skin may matter more than we realise. 🌿 A few years ago, during a very cold winter, I was heating our house with a wood stove and carrying wood up three flights of stairs each day. This one day it was so cold I had pulled on two fleece sweaters over each other. I started feeling a bit strange but didn't really understand why. My intuition told me it might be something I was wearing so I pulled them off and replaced them with an old woolen sweater. Instantly I felt better! From a Reiki perspective, the body is not separate from its environment. We are constantly responding to texture, temperature, pressure, colour and the subtle qualities of everything around us—including the clothes we wear. Natural fibres such as linen, wool, hemp and cotton often feel more breathable, grounding and alive. Synthetic fabrics feel less comfortable or create more static, particularly for people who are energetically sensitive. But this is not simply about declaring one fabric “good” and another “bad.” During Reiki, what matters most is whether your clothing helps your body soften. Can you breathe freely? Do you feel comfortable, present and uncontracted? Does the fabric support relaxation—or does some part of you want to pull away from it? The nervous system and the energy body are not two completely separate things. Physical comfort can support energetic openness. Try this simple experiment: Choose two different fabrics—perhaps linen and polyester. Hold each one quietly for a few minutes. Notice your breathing, your skin, your body and your emotional response. Don’t decide in advance what you are supposed to feel. Simply pay attention. Your sensitivity develops through direct experience—not through blindly accepting somebody else’s chart. Have you ever noticed that certain fabrics feel energetically different to you? Let me know in the comments. 👇 🈲 Want to go deeper with real Reiki?
