How to Overcome Daily Attachments... Wherever there is any bliss, even though in the most sensual of things, there is a spark of the Eternal bliss which is the Lord Himself.- Swami Vivekananda The head authority and protector of Dharma/Truth on Earth says: Nothing in the world belongs to you. Not people, not objects, not even your body. You just mentally accept it to be your own. He uses an example. 💡 When you fly on a plane, you pay for the seat. But when the flight ends, you don't take the seat with you. You never thought the seat was really yours. It was only yours for the trip. That's it. This is what Vairagya/Detachment is about. It means realizing that things are only with you for a while. Don't get caught up in what you like or dislike. It can hurt you. What you love today might be something you hate tomorrow. Here's a story he tells: A rich man who sold jewelry did some illegal things. He found out tax officers were planning to raid his house. In a panic, he threw all his hidden jewels into a gutter. While doing this, some jewels fell on the road. A sage walked by, saw the precious stone, but ignored it and kept going. Then, an old woman found the stone, took it home, and felt happy. The rich man used to love that precious stone, but now he hated it. For the wise man, it meant nothing. But for the woman, it became her treasure. Later, the police came, arrested the rich man, and found the woman with the stone. She got in trouble too. Our likes and dislikes shape our minds, creating our own small world of Samsara where we often get trapped. But if you follow dharma, you'll rise above these feelings. Dharma guides you to vairagya. You move past your likes and dislikes, going beyond the universal mind to feel the pure joy of Soul. As long as you do not consider the Soul as different from your body, senses and life, you will be afflicted by the sorrows of this world like disease, death and more- Bhagwan Ram
