So... Who am I and why does this exist? 🤔
If you don’t know who I am… yet — my name’s Hogan 👋 I’m a licensed mechanic with over 5 years in the trade here in Canada. I come from the cold, unforgiving East Coast of Newfoundland, where we survive on snowstorms, stubbornness, and questionable amounts of maple syrup (yes, the myths are true). Somewhere along the way of fixing cars for family, friends, and now thousands of people online, I realized there was a huge gap in car knowledge — and people were getting absolutely cooked because of it. How did I even know I wanted to do this as a career? Honestly… I have no idea 😅I didn’t grow up in a garage, didn’t have a mentor, and didn’t even have cars to work on. I just became weirdly obsessed with cars at around 10 years old. Like recognizing make, model, and year from across a parking lot obsessed. That obsession eventually turned into my social media pages (32k+ on Instagram), where I break down car stuff in the most condensed, no-BS way possible — because nobody wants a 20-minute explanation when the answer should’ve been 30 seconds. The reason this community exists is simple: I love talking to people about cars. A little too much, honestly. I will talk your ear off, and at some point you’ll probably regret asking me a “quick question” 👀 But this didn’t come easy. Being a young apprentice sucked. The work was hard, the learning curve was brutal, and caffeine basically became a food group 🤣 I’ve broken things, failed more times than I can count, and yes — injured myself along the way. But over time, I stopped being just a mechanic and became a technician — someone who thinks, diagnoses, and actually understands why things fail. That’s where The Mechanic Mindset comes from. This isn’t about gatekeeping, ego, or flexing knowledge. It’s about helping regular car owners stop guessing, stop getting burned, and start making smarter decisions — all while having fun and sharing a common obsession. If that sounds like your vibe… you’re in the right place.

👋 Welcome! Introduce Yourself + Share Your Ride 🚗
Let’s start with the basics — the first thing car people always talk about: what they drive. Use the simple format below 👇 Name & location: Hey, my name is __________ and I’m from __________. Your ride: I currently drive a __________. (Feel free to add a photo or video — encouraged 👀) Extra: I like to __________ for fun. (Can be anything). Build / plans (optional): Share what you’ve done so far, what you’re working on, or what your plans are! Think of this like a digital car meet — show some love, ask questions, and connect with others! P.S. If you haven't yet... Go to the "Start Here" course!

As soon as I seen Honda came out with the factory Turbo Civic, I had to get one. I don’t have it anymore, but here’s some fun pics/clips 👀

Thought I'd share this since someone asked!
I had a guy ask me maintenance advice on Tesla's... and of course I owned a Model 3 LOL. If anyone else needs this, here's how to properly maintain your TESLA: Tire rotation: 10,000km (Check suspension bolts) Brake service: Yearly/20,000km Alignment: Annually Wiper Blades: 1-2 years or when worn Cabin Filter: 2 years 12V Battery Replacement: 3-5 Years Brake Fluid and Coolant: 4 Years A/C Desiccant Bag: 6 Years Drive Unit Oil and Filter: 100,000km I know it's very random, but it was a funny little thing I thought I'd share here.

What are your goals?
Many people have different goals when it comes to their ride. Everybody wants reliability, or some prefer more power and a little more fun to sacrifice a little bit. I've pretty much done it all, so that's where I can help. I've owned everything from the most boring maintained daily to a fully tuned turbo car. And the best part, buying your own parts mean you get FREE STICKERS! 🤣
