Listening Before Speaking — What Horses Teach Us
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through horsemanship is that communication starts long before we ever ask a horse to do anything. Before I step into the round pen or pick up a lead rope, I take a moment to listen. Not with my ears — but with my eyes, my energy, and my intention. Horses are constantly reading us. They notice if we’re calm or hurried, confident or unsure. They feel what we bring before we ever say a word. When we take the time to match their rhythm — to breathe, to soften, to notice how they’re feeling — everything changes. The work becomes lighter, and trust grows naturally. In this week’s post and video, I’ll show a few moments that highlight this idea — not training for obedience, but creating a space where the horse wants to join in. Take a moment next time you’re with your horse — before haltering, before asking — and just be still. See what they offer when there’s no pressure. I’d love to hear what you notice when you try it. Feel free to share your thoughts or experiences in the comments. I popped in one of my liberty session videos here, this shows connection and there is no words just body language from both of us. What You’ll Find Inside The Horsemanship Circle
Now that you’re here, I want to give you a feel for what this space is all about and what you can expect. Each week I’ll be sharing a mix of real, unfiltered moments from life on the farm — because horsemanship isn’t just about training; it’s about the way we live with our horses every day. Here’s what you’ll find: } Training InsightsShort, down-to-earth videos showing how I build connection, softness, and understanding — whether it’s groundwork, leading, or problem-solving through feel. } Farm Life UpdatesLittle windows into what’s happening around Anroc Farms — the horses, the seasons, the weather, and sometimes even a few of the other animals that share our days. } Reflections & ConversationsThoughts about communication, mindset, and the deeper lessons horses teach us. Some posts might be raw or reflective — just honest sharing from my own journey. } Behind-the-ScenesYou’ll see how I prepare for clinics, train young horses, or work through challenges. Nothing fancy — just real horsemanship, as it happens. My goal is for this space to feel calm, genuine, and inspiring — a community built on curiosity and care. If there’s something specific you’d love to learn or see, please pop it in the comments below. This is our circle, and I’d love your input as it grows. See you in the next video,— Stacey

Welcome to The Horsemanship Circle
Hi everyone, and welcome to The Horsemanship Circle — a space where we can slow down, share, and learn together through the natural language of horses. Here, I’ll be posting a mix of videos, updates, and lessons from around the farm — everything from quiet moments in the paddock to training sessions that show the real process behind connection and understanding. Some days you’ll find an in-depth look at groundwork or body language, and other days it might just be a chat while I’m feeding out or walking through the herd. This space isn’t about perfection — it’s about feel, honesty, and growth. Whether you’re new to natural horsemanship or simply love being around horses, I hope you find something here that makes you think, smile, or feel more connected. I’d love to hear from you too — what draws you to horses, or what areas of horsemanship you’d like to explore more deeply? Feel free to introduce yourself below and tell us about your horse or what brought you here. Welcome to the circle 🧡— Stacey
