I wanted to share something Iโve just taken part in, in case it resonates with anyone else.
Itโs called Post SEND โ a quiet, anonymous project inviting people connected to SEND to send a short reflection by post about what SEND has meant to them.
Thereโs no online submission, no paperwork, and no expectation to share your whole story.
First name only. Share only what feels safe.
----------------------------
Iโll share what I wrote, as an example of the kind of thing theyโre asking for:
My name is Ellie.
Iโm connected to SEND as a parent.
SEND, for me, has meant learning that behaviour is communication, that overwhelm isnโt defiance, and that regulation comes before expectation.
Itโs meant unlearning what I was taught about โcopingโ and relearning how to listen โ to my children and to my own nervous system.
SEND has been exhausting, isolating, and often invisible.
But it has also made me slower, more observant, and more compassionate than I ever was before.
Iโm still learning.
Mostly, Iโm learning that none of us were broken โ we were just unsupported.
------------------------------
Iโm sharing this not to ask anyone to explain themselves, but to let you know the option exists.
If youโre curious, you can look up Post SEND and decide in your own time.
And if now isnโt the moment โ thatโs completely okay too.
