Lately I've been reflecting on the nature of human connection and the types of connection we experience when the world is moving too fast. Synthetic connection is fast: a comment, a DM that dissolves the second you close the app. It feels like contact, but it doesn't feed us.
We might have 500 of these in a day and still feel hollow.
Genuine connection is slower asks for presence, eye contact, a willingness to be seen without editing yourself first.
So today, I invite you to check in:
→ What does a moment of genuine human connection look like for you today?
→ Does it feel safe? Can you receive it? Can you share it?
→ Before you even get to another person — what's your connection to yourself today? What have you been doing that brings you back to you? What does that feel like in your body?
Sit with those for a second before you move on with today.
Here's what I know: you can't offer the world genuine connection from a self you've abandoned.
The relationship with yourself is the template for every other one.
This is exactly what we're working with in our upcoming workshop, Embodied Authorship. It is a way of harmonizing with the author, narrator, and main character within. We'll embrace somatic listening, soul-writing, and active imagination coming back into your body and your own voice before you try to reach anyone else.
