It’s that time of the year again! If you’re anything like me, you’re more than ready for the arrival of spring and excited to give your home a spring refresh.
But before you jump straight into decorating, it helps to ask yourself a simple question:
"What is causing me stress in my home?" 🤔
Look at things like:
- a disorganized front entrance that feels chaotic
- a messy kitchen drawer where you can never find what you’re looking for
- an overstuffed closet that creates anxiety
- jumbled cables that create visual noise around your tv or workspace
- surfaces that have become a drop zone for clutter
- improper or harsh lighting
- a leaky bathroom faucet that drips all night
Once you’ve addressed these daily annoyances, it’s time to start the simple 3 step RESET process:
➡️ STEP 1: Declutter 🧺
- clear out what you no longer need, use, or love
- start with the spots that create the most daily friction
➡️ STEP 2: Clean 🧹
- give your space a proper refresh by wiping surfaces, washing linens and cleaning windows
- wipe down outdoor furniture and clean outdoor light fixtures
➡️ STEP 3: Refresh & Redecorate 🌷
Now bring in a few simple seasonal touches:
- add a few pillows in fresh spring colours to your bedroom and living room
- fill a vase with flowers or simple branches (real or faux) for your dining table
- add some potted herbs or plants to your kitchen window
- create a welcoming entry by adding a spring wreath to your front door and a new welcome mat
- add some outdoor lighting (lanterns, fairy lights etc) to maximize your time outside
Spring decorating doesn’t have to be complicated. Just a few thoughtful changes can make your home feel calm, refreshed, and much easier to live in. 💚
What’s the one spot in your home that creates the most daily friction right now—and what’s one small change you could make this week to fix it?
