🔥 Weekly Challenge Submission — Harhuza Prologue
What’s up everyone — Dennis here.
For this week’s writing challenge, I chose “A scene that reveals who your character really is.”
This moment comes from the prologue of my book Legend of Harhuza — the introduction to my main character before the story begins. It sets the tone for who he was, who he became, and why his return matters.
Here it is:
I was a god once.
Before the stars were born, before the angels carved Heaven’s gates into existence, I was Harhuza—the first light to pierce the infinite void. The Creator’s greatest work. But like all creations, I was flawed.
I did not bow. I did not obey.
While others sang praises to the Creator, I saw the cracks in His design. I saw His weakness, His fear of what we could become. And when I spoke my truth, when I sought to reshape existence in my image, He cast me down.
Lucifer, the pretender, called himself Prince of Darkness. But I was the true King. When I walked the flames of Hell, they bent to me. When I spoke, the legions trembled. But Lucifer—ever the schemer, ever the snake—sought my throne.
For a moment, I allowed myself arrogance. I believed myself untouchable.
In that moment, Lucifer betrayed me.
I was not cast into the fires of Hell. No. My punishment was far worse. I was torn from existence, my essence ripped from its divine form and bound to an object—a fragment of gold no larger than a coin. An amulet.
For millennia, I drifted in the abyss. Powerless. Voiceless. Forgotten. But mortals have a way of stumbling where they should not.
In 1899, I felt the first touch of a human hand in over ten thousand years. I felt the pulse of life, the warmth of blood.
And I knew I would rise again.
Would love your thoughts.
What hits you, what confuses you, what stands out.
Let’s keep building each other up. 💪🔥✍️
