How to Restart My Real Estate Business
I recently left my W-2 sales job because they were prohibiting me from practicing real estate. I had planned to just join a team to get leads and work those leads long enough to make some money to live on while I built my real estate the right way long term. In this process I have learned something about what it means to join a team: In most cases joining a team means an impersonal form of practicing real estate where you are expect to be a cog in their lead gen machine and call 20 to 30 people/strangers per day. Being a realtor is reduced down to merely treating everyone like a number. As I have watched the first course in Garrett's courses this week, I have had some very clarifying thoughts. The reason I love being a real estate agent is because it affords me the opportunity to come alongside people and love them and care about them right where they are in their life. It is a way I can be an extension of the love of God to other people. So now I have a question:
Do real estate teams exist that allow you and even help you build your own real estate business Garrett's way while helping you get started with their own leads for a higher commission split. I had something like that on a small scale in Michigan where I started. But I didn't realize how valuable it was until I left it.
Lastly, Would you all be praying for me. I am at a loss. I am completely out of financial resources except my tax returns that I will get in the next 6 weeks or so. My wife and 4 children are depending on me to provide for them. I have been trying to restart my real estate career in a new place for 4 years. I walked away from a thriving and growing career in Michigan to move our family down to NC. And everything about living here is wonderful. We have an amazing church and relationships. But my career has been stagnant since that move. I have equity in our home and I have considered selling it to live on the equity while I restart my career, but that is not done lightly as it is a very unique property that has is low priced for the area and my family LOVES it. Plus it is a resource that I think we could lean into to make money if we could just figure out how. Please pray the Lord would provide some quick closings. I have two clients who will be looking to buy in April.
