Pressure Choice vs. Clean Choice

This week we’re closing out May’s theme of Choice by looking at the difference between a pressure choice and a clean choice.
Because a lot of people think:
“I always make the wrong decision.”
“I can’t trust myself.”
“I need someone else to tell me what to do.”
“What if I choose wrong?”
“What if everything falls apart?”
But sometimes the issue is not that you can’t trust yourself.
Sometimes the issue is that you were never really choosing from yourself.
You were choosing from pressure.
Pressure can sound like:
“I need to decide right now.”
“I have to fix this.”
“I need them to understand.”
“I can’t let them be upset.”
“I already messed up, so what’s the point?”
“I just need this feeling to stop.”
A pressure choice usually comes from:
fear
guilt
shame
urgency
people-pleasing
wanting reassurance
wanting relief
wanting the discomfort to stop
A clean choice is different.
A clean choice does not always feel easy.
It does not always feel calm.
It does not always make everyone happy.
But it feels more honest.
It feels more aligned.
It feels like something you can stand beside after the pressure settles.
So this week, we’re practicing noticing:
Am I choosing from alignment…or am I choosing because pressure got loud?
Not to shame ourselves.
Not to overthink every decision.
Not to make perfect choices.
Just to create enough space to make cleaner ones.

This week’s practice:
Pause before the pressure chooses for you.
Ask:
What is actually driving this choice?
That question changes a lot. 🖤
