What do You think?
Hi everyone ✨✨✨
I really love the energy in this group, and the way Jessica shows up for us – encouraging us, challenging us, sharing her knowledge and giving us that extra boost when we need it.
I wanted to share something with you and also hear your thoughts.
I live and work in Sweden and have been working therapeutically with people for more than 25 years. I’ve also been an entrepreneur since 2003.
Over the years, I’ve created and developed four different brands and businesses. I’ve grown tremendously as a person along the way, built things, sold businesses, closed chapters and started new ones. And I suppose that is part of entrepreneurship too – allowing yourself to evolve instead of believing you have to remain the person you were when you first started.
Today, one of the main parts of my work is EssensiaTerapi, where I work as a therapist with individuals and couples.
A large part of my therapeutic work is about helping people understand what is happening beneath the surface – the patterns, emotional defences and subconscious strategies we develop in order to protect ourselves, often very early in life.
I work with five core emotional defences connected to our basic human rights: the right to exist, to have needs, to have our own identity, to be our true selves and to have our feelings.
The work is not about “fixing” people. It is about helping them understand why certain patterns were once necessary, how they may still influence relationships and self-worth today, and how we can gradually create more conscious choices.
Alongside therapy, I have developed EssensiaMetoden, where therapeutic conversations are combined with written coaching, guided reflection and deeper self-inquiry. I believe there is something powerful about not only talking about our lives, but also slowing down enough to put our thoughts, emotions and patterns into words.
And now I am in the process of building something new: EssensiaStudio.
EssensiaStudio grew out of my own experience as a therapist, entrepreneur and woman running a business where there are constantly more ideas, tasks and responsibilities than hours in the day.
It is about using AI as a supportive working partner – creating AI assistants, systems and smarter workflows that can help therapists, coaches and other small business owners with things such as structure, content, brainstorming, administration, course material, marketing, planning and repetitive tasks.
Essentially, using AI to create more space for the work that actually requires us.
And this is where I sometimes find myself wrestling with my own thoughts.
Am I still being serious and professional as a therapist if I openly embrace AI as part of how I build my business?
I do trust myself. I believe in what I am creating. But I also know that AI is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea – and perhaps especially not within therapy and other deeply human professions.
For me, though, there is a very clear boundary.
AI will never replace the therapeutic relationship.
It cannot replace presence.
It cannot replace human intuition.
It cannot replace emotional attunement, responsibility, ethics or the relationship that develops between therapist and client.
And I would never want it to.
What AI can do is support me behind the scenes.
It can help me organise ideas, develop structures, work with administrative tasks, create first drafts, plan content, build systems and take care of some of the workload that otherwise consumes an enormous amount of time.
And strangely enough, I feel that using AI in this way may actually allow me to become more human in my work – because I can spend less time on administration and more time being present with people.
Still, I notice that little voice sometimes asking:
“Will people take me less seriously because of this?”
So I’m curious.
How do you see it?
Do you think AI and deeply human professions can exist side by side?
And if you work with coaching, therapy, consulting or another people-centred profession – have you ever struggled with the same question?
