I’m starting a new Monday series inside the community. 🙌
Each week, we’ll take a prompt, pull it apart, and look at how we can get 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗜 ... not by making our prompts unnecessarily complicated, but by getting better at how we structure the work we give it.
This is a long one, because I really want this series to help you LEARN how to get the most from each interaction with AI.
Plus today’s lesson is a BIG one:
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲. 😅
Have you ever written a prompt that sounds something like:
❌ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗡𝗘-𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗧:
“Create a complete launch strategy for my new course. Include my positioning, offer, launch timeline, email sequence, social media content, webinar strategy, bonuses, pricing, and launch metrics.”
Technically, AI can give you all of that.
But should you ask for it all at once? Probably not.
The more complex the task, the more decisions AI has to make inside a single response. And if an early decision is weak, your positioning, for example, then everything built on top of that decision can also be weak.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁.
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺...so it's making a ton of assumptions. And then when you get it back and it's made all of these wrong assumptions, you have to go back and try to sift through the web of details and figure out where it went wrong 🤪
Soooooo... 👉🏻 𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗗: 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦
Instead of asking for the entire launch, break the work into checkpoints.
𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝟭 → 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆
“Before creating a launch plan, help me clarify the strategy. Based on the information below, identify the audience, core problem, desired transformation, and strongest positioning angle for this offer. Give me 3 positioning options with the strengths and risks of each. Do not create the launch plan yet.”
⬇️
𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲. 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲. 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲.
Then move on.
𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝟮 → 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿
“Using the positioning we selected, let’s now refine the offer. Recommend the core promise, deliverables, bonuses, pricing considerations, and objections we need to address.”
⬇️
Review again.
𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝟯 → 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻
“Now use the positioning and offer we’ve agreed on to create the launch strategy and timeline.”
⬇️
𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝟰 → 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁
Only after those decisions are made do you start generating emails, social posts, webinar content, etc.
See the difference?
You’re not necessarily giving AI 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 instructions.
You’re giving it 𝗳𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲, and creating opportunities for 𝗬𝗢𝗨 to steer the process.
Remember, the goal isn’t:
🤖 AI → does all the thinking → hands you the answer.
It’s:
🤖 AI → helps you think
👤 YOU → evaluate and decide
🤖 AI → builds on that decision
👤 YOU → refine and redirect
🤖 AI → moves to the next stage
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁.
🧪 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗡
Think about something complex you’ve recently asked AI to help you with.
A launch? A course? A sales page? A business strategy? A new offer?
👇 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝟯–𝟱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲?
