Here is a combined, practical framework we can use, an Alignment Ladder that turns ethics into behavior.
1) Intent Alignment - Write the purpose in plain language. What outcome do we want, for whom, and what tradeoffs are unacceptable. Define what success looks like beyond speed.
2) Boundary Alignment - Set clear rules for what the AI can do, cannot do, and must escalate. Include permissions, data constraints, and autonomy limits.
3) Evidence Alignment - Define what the AI must show. Sources for claims, structured outputs, confidence cues, and clear labeling of draft versus verified information.
4) Oversight Alignment - Assign a named owner. Decide which steps require human review, and define stop conditions for uncertainty or high impact.
5) Learning Alignment - Log actions and outcomes. Review incidents without blame. Improve prompts, workflows, and boundaries based on what actually happened.
This ladder is how we move from hand-waving to operational ethics. It is also a roadmap for community discussion, because every team can locate where they are strong and where they need to mature.
