In IJ they talk about American’s constant want of ‘freedom from’ everything but never the importance of ‘freedom to’ do things
It paints us as petulant children, avoiding responsibility and claiming it as a virtue. We want entertainment or drugs even if they kill is, all in the name of choice
But we won’t make any collective effort to create a responsibility of choice. Is freedom of choice really better if we only ever choose the self, or choose things that are terrible for us?
