How many of us have taken the time to understand, let alone, define our core values?
Not the ones we were taught at home, learned in school or adopted as part of our religion but the ones we truly believe deep down inside.
Our values are integral to our identity however having ADHD means we often create a false sense of identity based on our failures. So we take on an identity of someone who "never remembers" or "always fails to follow through" yet which detracts from any inherent sense of being someone who values self-development or being challenged.
But what if your value of self-development is what pushed you to get diagnosed, then go on meds, work with a therapist, coach or just join a community like ours.
What if you valued being challenged and looked for ways to enhance your focus? What if you decided to challenge yourself to stop drinking so you could create mental clarity and level up?
Our values matter more than we believe which is why I've just put together this Values training per The Performance OS which I'm actively building out. I'd suggest opening the PDF and working through the slides and then working on the Values exercise.
I've done this myself and my top 5 values are: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗿, 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 & 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
The exercise provides over 58 values to choose from or you can add your own.
If you've ever defined your values please do share them here. 👇
