READY FOR COVENANT
Hey guys,
Wanted to share something I’ve been working on that I’m really excited about. I’m writing a new 60 day pre marital devotional for couples who are thinking about marriage or preparing to walk into it. It’s called Ready for Covenant: A 60-Day Pre-Marital Devotional. It will be out soon as an ebook on Barnes & Noble.
Here’s a little taste of Day 1:
Day 1: Created for Covenant
Genesis 2:18, 24
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
God looked at everything He had made and called it good. Then He looked at the man standing alone in the garden and said something different: “It is not good that the man should be alone.” That is the first time in Scripture God calls anything “not good.” Loneliness was never part of the original design. So He formed a woman from the man’s own side and brought her to him, a helper fit for him, corresponding to him, equal in dignity and counterpart in the work God gave them.
Marriage is not a human invention God later decided to bless. It is God’s idea from the beginning. Leaving, holding fast, becoming one flesh, these are the structure He built into creation. Culture can redefine it, delay it, or treat it like a temporary arrangement, but it cannot change what God established in the garden. Most of us carry a mix of ideas about marriage absorbed from movies, social media, family patterns, and our own wounds. Genesis 2 calls us back to the original blueprint. Today’s work is simple but important: Write down three ways your current view of marriage still leans more toward culture than toward Genesis 2. Be honest. Looking at them is the first step toward letting God reset your understanding.
Father, reset my understanding of marriage to Your original design. Make me ready for covenant, not convenience. In Jesus’ name, amen.
