READY FOR COVENANT
Hey guys, Wanted to share something I’ve been working on that I’m really excited about. I’m writing a new 60 day pre marital devotional for couples who are thinking about marriage or preparing to walk into it. It’s called Ready for Covenant: A 60-Day Pre-Marital Devotional. It will be out soon as an ebook on Barnes & Noble. Here’s a little taste of Day 1: Day 1: Created for Covenant Genesis 2:18, 24 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. God looked at everything He had made and called it good. Then He looked at the man standing alone in the garden and said something different: “It is not good that the man should be alone.” That is the first time in Scripture God calls anything “not good.” Loneliness was never part of the original design. So He formed a woman from the man’s own side and brought her to him, a helper fit for him, corresponding to him, equal in dignity and counterpart in the work God gave them. Marriage is not a human invention God later decided to bless. It is God’s idea from the beginning. Leaving, holding fast, becoming one flesh, these are the structure He built into creation. Culture can redefine it, delay it, or treat it like a temporary arrangement, but it cannot change what God established in the garden. Most of us carry a mix of ideas about marriage absorbed from movies, social media, family patterns, and our own wounds. Genesis 2 calls us back to the original blueprint. Today’s work is simple but important: Write down three ways your current view of marriage still leans more toward culture than toward Genesis 2. Be honest. Looking at them is the first step toward letting God reset your understanding. Father, reset my understanding of marriage to Your original design. Make me ready for covenant, not convenience. In Jesus’ name, amen. I’ll post the link as soon as the ebook is live on Barnes & Noble.

Day 22
Day 22: Be Sober Minded Scripture "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world." 1 Peter 5:8-9 Scripture Explanation Sober minded means clear headed. Not just free from substances but free from the fog of denial and distraction. Watchful. The devil is real and he is hunting. He prowls. He seeks to devour. The response is resist him firm in your faith. You are not alone. Your brothers and sisters around the world face the same kinds of suffering. There is strength in knowing that. Application Addiction thrives in fog. Sober minded is the opposite. Clear. Alert. Today commit to being sober minded and watchful. The adversary is real. He wants to devour your freedom. Do not give him an opening. Stay alert to his schemes. When he roars with temptation or accusation resist him firm in your faith. Faith in what Jesus has done. Faith in the promises. Faith that you are not alone. The brotherhood is with you. Others are fighting the same fight. That should encourage you. You are part of a larger story. Resist. Stay firm. I have had to remind myself of this many times. The lion is real but he is defeated. Resist him and he will flee. Stay sober minded. Do not let the fog creep back in. Watchfulness is a form of love for your own soul. Practice it today. Be clear. Be alert. Resist. Stand firm. The devourer will not have you. Take time today to sit with this truth. Journal the specific ways it confronts the lies of addiction in your life. Write one practical step you will take today because of this Scripture. Pray the verse back to God in your own words. Ask Him to plant it deep so that when pressure comes this truth rises up instead of the old patterns. Remember that every day of choosing freedom rewires your responses. Be patient with the process but persistent in the practice. Share what you are learning with a trusted friend if you have one. Accountability multiplies strength. Do not isolate. Keep showing up. This day matters. Your yes to God today builds the free life you want tomorrow. Stay the course. He is with you and He is enough.
