Art is such an adventure
Hi everyone, so excited to be part of this adventure. I am originally from Brisbane but have been on the Sunshine Coast for over 30 years. Currently I live on 10 acres (a small lychee and avocado farm) with my husband Don. I'm very fortunate to be surrounded by nature.
I have three children and three granddaughters one of whom lives in Tasmania; I'm frequently in Tasmania.
Earlier this year I retired from 25 years of science lecturing, before that was research. I have no formal training in art except high school and basic scientific illustration.
About 7 years ago out of nowhere I painted a discarded kitchen chair with acrylic paint. It helped me in a time of deep grief. Since then I've painted 13 more discarded chairs. Now I am just finishing my first commission (small side table, pic 1) and working on Horse, a rescued rocking horse soon to be a side table. My work is full of organic forms, both real and imagined. When painting i get lost in detail which is my hope for the observer.
Last year I created my website and instagram, had a chair published in an art book. This year I was a finalist in Visions earlier this year at Studio on Brunswick 🎉🎆. Woohoo! So pleased I discovered and the gallery. Many, many moons ago I would occasionally have breakfast in the California Diner and dine at Giardenettos. How things have changed.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning 😀.
