First 1k Words International Writing Contest ✏️

Calling all middle grade and young adult writers! Operation Literacy is sponsoring an international summer writing contest open to anyone thirteen and older.

New York Times bestselling author Kathryn Purdie will be selecting the winners of this contest. The top three entries in each category will win an award certificate and feedback from a professional editor.

Who: Writers 13+ (three age categories: 13–15, 16–19, 20+)

What: The first 1,000 words of your middle grade or young adult novel

When: June 15–August 31

Entry Fee: $29
