I'll be happy when...
There's this idea called deferred life syndrome. "Life starts once I get X out of the way." "I'll be happy when I hit Y."
Chris Williamson calls it holding your happiness hostage.
When I sat with that, I was on this exact boat. It felt like I was in the pre-season of my life, like the real thing would start later. So I was never present. Either stuck replaying the past or stressing about the future.
"We suffer more often in imagination than in reality." Seneca
Stack that with productivity debt, that voice telling you you're behind even after a day where you ticked every box, and you get total chaos.
What if that happiness never comes? What if you can be happy where you are right now? Maybe not satisfied, if you have goals to pursue, but you can still be happy.
Let me know in the comments if you guys also feel like you're in a pre-season.
