Iโ€™ll go first!
๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey friends! Iโ€™m Stef. Former customer success rep, former startup PM, and now a Senior PM at HubSpot. I started StefThePM.com last year as a newsletter for people breaking into product or levelling up in their PM career. That turned into mentorship calls with hundreds of people like you, just trying to figure it out. Now we have this community, because figuring it out is better when youโ€™re not doing it alone. This is a space to talk about what product work actually looks like. The messy parts included. So letโ€™s kick things off: drop a comment and tell me who you are and where youโ€™re at in your journey. Aspiring PM? Newly in role? Still working up the nerve to make the pivot?

๐ŸŽฏ START HERE: Read this first
Hey, and welcome. Really glad you're here. This community is for people making the real pivot into PM, not the LinkedIn version, the actual version. The part where you're questioning your background, rewriting your resume for the 5th time, and wondering if you're even qualified. You are. Let's make sure hiring managers see it. --- Here's how to get started: 1. Go to ๐Ÿ‘‹ Introductions and drop a post. Tell us: your current background, what PM role you're targeting, and the one thing you're most stuck on right now. 2. Ask your first question in ๐ŸŽฏ Ask Stef. Post anything you'd normally Google at 11pm while spiraling about your job search. I read everything and answer here. 3. Share your work in ๐Ÿ“ Portfolio & Interview Prep. Post your resume, your interview answers, your cover letters. Get real feedback, not generic advice. 4. Celebrate in ๐ŸŽ‰ Booyah! Wins. Everything from "I finally sent that application" to "I got the offer." We celebrate both. --- A few things I want to be upfront about: This is a small community by design. I'm not trying to build an audience here โ€” I'm trying to build a room where people actually get hired. That means real feedback, real conversations, and me actually being here. If you have a question, post it. โ€” Stef

Warm welcome to all the new people!
๐Ÿง  Week 2 PM Case Challenge
Every Monday I drop a real PM interview case question. You practice in the comments. I give feedback. We all get better together. No lurking allowed. ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐ŸŽฏ This weekโ€™s scenario: Youโ€™re the PM for Duolingoโ€™s streak feature - one of their highest-engagement mechanics. User research shows a clear pattern: users who break their streak for the first time are 3x more likely to churn within 30 days. Your team has capacity for ONE initiative next quarter. You have three options on the table: A) Streak Repair: let users restore a broken streak (1-2 days off) for a small in-app purchase or ad watch B) Streak Freeze: automatically protect streaks when a user is clearly traveling or inactive based on behaviour signals C) Fresh Start Reframe: redesign what happens right after a streak breaks to focus on re-engagement instead of loss Hereโ€™s what I want to see in your answer: - Which option do you pick, and why? - What framework or thinking did you use to prioritize? - Whatโ€™s the one assumption your decision depends on most? Drop your answer below. No right answer here! Iโ€™m looking at your reasoning, not your conclusion. Iโ€™ll reply to every answer with real feedback. If you know someone prepping for PM interviews, tag them. They need this reps.

๐Ÿง  Week 1 PM Case Challenge
Every Monday I drop a real PM interview case question. You practice in the comments. I give feedback. We all get better together. No lurking allowed. ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐ŸŽฏ This week's scenario: You're the PM for Instagram Stories. Over the last 90 days, DAU for Stories has dropped 15%, but overall Instagram DAU is flat. Your interviewer asks: "Walk me through how you'd diagnose this." Here's what I want to see in your answer: โ†’ What data would you pull first? โ†’ What hypotheses would you test? โ†’ What would you explicitly rule OUT early, and why? Drop your answer in the comments below. Doesn't have to be perfect, this is practice. I'll reply to every single answer this week with real feedback. If you know someone prepping for PM interviews, tag them here. They need this.
