🎉 It’s time! Our Starter Marathon kicks off today! Over the next 4 days, we’re going to bring a living, bubbly sourdough starter to life -- from scratch!
Here’s what we’ll do today:
✔ Get your tools & ingredients ready
✔ Learn the basics of a happy starter
✔ Make the very first mix of flour + water (Step 1!)
Excited? Drop a 🍞 if you’re IN!
Check out our first lesson on what you need to make a starter!
What do you need to make your very own sourdough starter?
You don’t need much! Here’s the list:
✔ Jar: 0,7-1 L (23,7 – 33,8 oz) with a lid
✔ Flours: Start with whole rye, then switch to unbleached wheat (all-purpose or bread)
✔ Water: Good tap water (left out overnight) or bottled if needed
✔ Tools (optional but helpful): Kitchen scale, silicone spatula, thermometer
✔ Temperature: Keep it warm - 26-30°C (78,8-86°F) for best results
In the video I give a few tips how to make a perfect temperature for your starter.
