Aloka, the world-famous Peace Dog, has arrived in Nepal alongside Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara Tuệ Nhân, a Vietnamese-American Buddhist monk to spread the message of compassion, non-violence, and universal harmony. In 2022, during a Buddhist peace pilgrimage in India, a stray dog began following a group of monks on their long journey. Instead of leaving the dog behind, the monks welcomed him into their group and named him Aloka, a name associated with light. Aloka as the dog continued travelling alongside the monks. Through their journey, Aloka captured the hearts of people who watched their story unfold. During the journey, Aloka reportedly became seriously ill, and the monks cared for him. Despite the challenges, he stayed with them for nearly 100 days, travelling thousands of kilometres. The world knew about him more during The Walk for Peace in the USA: 2,300 Miles of Hope. Now he is in Nepal. Aloka’s journey reminds us that peace needs no words—sometimes, a simple act of loyalty, love, and compassion can touch millions of hearts and inspire the world to walk together toward peace.
