The Importance of Warm-Ups
Warming up your voice is crucial when it comes to performing at your highest level. The well trained singer is essentially like a trained athlete. The voice is a muscle and like any other muscle, it can be subject to strain and even injury if we aren’t careful. A quick 15-30 minute vocal warm up can stretch your vocal cords gently, preparing them to be used to their full extent. Like a runner stretching their legs before a race, or a gym-goer getting their body ready to safely exercise, the vocal warm ups will remind your voice how to properly engage the correct muscles in order to produce the sound you are going for with ease and precision. I will post some exercises here that we can do in the future.

Cover Songs
When attempting to cover a popular song it’s important to make it your own, while also not going too far from the blueprint (unless that’s the sound you’re going for, of course.) Crowds tend to go wild for something that they are already familiar with, but when you can add your own flavor to it.. you’ve given the listener something to set you apart. Whether you are changing the way certain words are sung, or altering the melody in some way, it is important to maintain your own individuality, especially when covering somebody else’s song.

Class in Session!
Welcome to the class! I’m your instructor, Darion (Pronounced Dair-ee-uhn). I have been singing ever since I can remember. Music has always been something that I’ve had an intuitive ear for, particularly when it comes to the voice. I have sung in choirs, sung in bands, released songs for streaming… And now I’m bringing my vocal expertise to teach others about the joy of singing. Please comment on this thread and introduce yourself: Let me know how long you have been singing and 1 goal you hope to achieve from this class.
