Lucky to be alive
Hey folks. I was involved in accident May 3rd and today was first day I’ve seen the pics of my bike and I feel lucky to be alive. I was lane splitting on 101 freeway in Los Angeles after dark and I have no memory of before/during/after accident. I had a camera mounted to bike but that must have flown off somewhere.
I sustained open book fracture to pelvis, torn ligaments in right knee, fractured fibula, clavicle, scapula, and a brain bleed. I’m on mend now with two more surgeries to go and I might be back home and learning to walk in 4-10 weeks.
I was wearing gear including an airbag, but I did have on only tennis shoes. I think it could have been much worse but I’m looking forward to replacing the bike and getting back on, perhaps with less night riding, and more safety knowledge.
I got the ZX6R end of December 2025 and put 12k miles on it in those 4 months. Here’s before picture from same day and the aftermath. I’m happy to be alive 😁
