Lucky to be alive
Hey folks. I was involved in accident May 3rd and today was first day I’ve seen the pics of my bike and I feel lucky to be alive. I was lane splitting on 101 freeway in Los Angeles after dark and I have no memory of before/during/after accident. I had a camera mounted to bike but that must have flown off somewhere. I sustained open book fracture to pelvis, torn ligaments in right knee, fractured fibula, clavicle, scapula, and a brain bleed. I’m on mend now with two more surgeries to go and I might be back home and learning to walk in 4-10 weeks. I was wearing gear including an airbag, but I did have on only tennis shoes. I think it could have been much worse but I’m looking forward to replacing the bike and getting back on, perhaps with less night riding, and more safety knowledge. I got the ZX6R end of December 2025 and put 12k miles on it in those 4 months. Here’s before picture from same day and the aftermath. I’m happy to be alive 😁

@Arlene Baratta thank you! Nah my camera was a go pro
👋 Hello
Hi, I’m Julie from the hectic Athens. My obsession with motorcycles started in summer of ‘24 and so my plan began then on getting my license and saving for my 1st bike. I discovered that my mom was riding a bike when she was super young for a brief period of time and so that’s where I got that nudge for bikes from. So I got even more excited! Next summer comes and I pass my theory exam and then I finally can start my riding lessons. At September I got my A license and now I could start researching for what kind of a bike I wanted. As I took my exam on a cb600 Hornet of ‘07 I really liked that type of retro naked and a bit aggressive position bike. At first I decided on a Suzuki SV650 (I know it may be a lot for a 1st bike but I knew I could handle it since I have my brain inside my head as I’m almost 30) but I’d was difficult to find a good deal and new ones weren’t to be found as it discontinued. So I looked into the CB750 Hornet and that was it. I finally got it 2 weeks ago! I’m super stoked about what is to come and also that I’ll have the best possible riding foundation with the help of this crew. All this time I was, and am and will be watching dans videos and other tips tricks and lessons. I want to be good at this as I want to be safe! Thank you for having me and sorry for the long text 😅

Welcome!
Greetings
I’m Jeff, happy to be here. After 10 years without a bike I took an MSF course in November and got my endorsement. I ride a ZX6R that I got about a month ago and I’ve put 3500 miles on it so far. I primarily ride around LA and Orange County on the freeways, along the coast and some canyon rides. These videos have already saved me from some incidents on the freeways (lol open lane pattern every day). I’m looking to continue learning, developing skills, and being safety focused

@Mackenzie Martin I’m definitely open to trying the drills. I briefly had a z500 before the ZX6R and I struggled for sure when making the switch.
