New post categories + feel free to share and post!
Hey everyone! I have create a couple new categories to hopefully encourage posting and sharing of work, ideas, resources, inspiration, etc, in a more organized fashion. I started this skool to share my art hacks from TikTok and eventually even more, but this space is for you all just as much as it is for me! A community where we can all learn and grow as artists and visual storytellers together.
The "General Discussion" category is just that. I will continue posting course updates (may eventually just create a category for "Updates" 😅), but feel free to use this category for questions, art hack requests, thoughts about the latest movie/game/comic/manga/anime/etc. release, for discussion on how much you loved or maybe didn't love it, what you might have done differently as a storyteller and so on.
The "Share Your Work" category is exactly how it sounds. Share your work!! Maybe you need feedback on your practice, work in progress, how to lay out a scene, how to use foreshortening, make a character a bit more dynamic, panel design... or maybe you just want to get over the initial hump of being nervous to share your work publicly. That's fine too! This Slinging Ink Skool is all about progress not perfection. I've categorized the 3 posts by and (btw thanks for sharing!) as "Share Your Work" so now when you go to that category you will find them all in one place 👍🏻.
The "Inspiration + Resources" will be a great place to share some of your favorite artists/storytellers that have inspired your own creative journey or new ones you've discovered (I am personally always looking for new artists to learn from so excited to see what you all share here) or other resources that you have found super helpful like books, podcasts, or even art supplies you love to use. I do an "Artist of the week" for my students and am thinking of replicating that here.
And of course you can always just see everything all in one place with the "All" category.
When you create a post you can select the category (see screenshot) but it's okay if you forget or choose the wrong one because I can always move it later. And you can continue to filter all posts using the "Default" "New" "Top" or "Unread" options.
Hope this helps! Happy drawing skoolers!
