This quote from André De Shields’ 2019 Tony Award speech changed my life:

“𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲.”

It’s how I approach most things in my life, including my business. I’ve found that rushed work leads to flat results, while slow, steady, and thoughtful actions create a strong foundation. That foundation is what makes my work sustainable and sets my future self up well.

I don’t end up exhausted because I’m not building my days in a way that leads to exhaustion in the first place.
