I was speaking with a business owner recently who told me:

The first relied heavily on referrals for new business. What they eventually discovered was that many referrals were checking them out online before reaching out. After improving their website and making their offer clearer, they started receiving more inquiries from people who already understood the value of what they offered.
The second business owner had a great service but no professional online presence. Prospects would often ask if they had a website before moving forward. Once they launched a website that clearly explained their services and included client feedback, conversations became much easier because trust had already been established.
