Skool News | the Axe Verdict
the latest Skool updates. the honest, unfiltered verdict from me.
i will focus on what's already available and how to use it. i will skip the roadmap (what's coming) and the nonsense examples of ppl and communities that you have nothing to learn from (cause you cannot compare you to them).
🔔 reminder: you can find this week's Skool news and previous news in the Vault.
this week's verdict:
this week, they've added "Upgrade" button just above settings for folks who are already inside to let them know that there are more levels.
VERDICT = if you have freemium community, both features should improve conversion rates. let's test & see
  • free trial has been upgraded as well. you can lock classes and even individual modules/lessons and even chat for FREE trial ppl. when they try to access, they are offered to skip trial and start paying.
VERDICT = if you are using free trial, it should help eliminate free seekers and spammers faster and facilitate conversions to paid. let's test & see
  • closed doors functionality. one more new feature - you can turn your community to "close doors" in Settings/Pricing. the community will still be working good and well for existing members. but the status will be "closed" and outside ppl won't be able to join. the benefit = it will not be downgraded in the Discovery, just unlisted. so, when you open doors again, you jump right back - no need to climb back up from the bottom.
🚨 UPDATED VERDICT = "closed doors" is good for the following cases:
  • while you are away or sick or maybe doing re-construction of the community and don't want new member just yet.
  • when you run cohorts, or otherwise want to double-down on exclusivity/urgency, and only open community for a certain periods of time.
HOWEVER, i strongly suggest to pair it up with "waitlist" process. currently, it's not part of Skool, so, you can either have another free community to capture and nurture future paid members or build a form and nurture your waitlist via emails. benefit of a free community is that you'll capture all traffic, including one from discovery.
thanks to and for contributing to updated verdict.
OVERALL VERDICT: even more features to push community owners to have tiers, trials - to help Skool get cash faster and use it on Growth Boost. it's neither good or bad. it is that. consider if your business model, you niche, your community will benefit form it, and decide how to use it.
