Here's a list of supplies that you will need to get started on this sewing journey. If you already have these things, GREAT JOB.👍🏾
Be sure to check off what you have and gather the things you need.
Basics
* Fabric scissors (8–9”)
* Small snips or thread cutter
* Seam ripper
* Pin cushion + straight pins (or clips)
* Hand sewing needles (assorted)
* Polyester all-purpose thread (black, white, neutral)
* Measuring tape (60”)
* Clear ruler (6” x 24” if possible)
* Tailor’s chalk or washable fabric marker
* Thimble (optional but helpful)
Measuring & Marking
* Seam gauge (or small ruler)
* Pencil + notebook (for notes and measurements)
Cutting & Prep
* Cutting mat + rotary cutter (optional but great)
* Pattern paper (or printer paper for early pattern work)
Pressing (this matters)
* Iron
* Ironing board or pressing mat
* Pressing cloth (cotton scrap works)
Safety & Organization
* Band-aids (for beginners)
* Zipper pouch or small bin to keep everything together
* Sewing machine needles (Universal 80/12 and 90/14)
* Extra bobbins (3–5)
* Seam guide (optional)
* Machine oil (only if your machine manual allows it)
