Before You Sew: Safety Rules + How to Thread Your Machine
If you’re brand new to sewing, start with these three basics—in this order:
1) Sewing Safety (first, always).
Tie back hair, remove jewelry, good lighting, fingers away from the needle, and power off/unplug when you’re done.
2) Know your machine parts.
When you can name what you’re touching (hand wheel, presser foot, tension dial, take-up lever, bobbin winder, etc.), everything gets easier—and safer.
3) Thread your machine correctly.
Most “my machine is acting crazy” problems come from threading. Follow the steps and don’t skip the take-up lever.
Quick check-in: Comment SAFETY, PARTS, or THREADING — which one do you want a 60-second walkthrough on next?
(If you tell me your machine brand/model, I can tailor the threading steps.)
